Final conference of LIFE-DRY4GAS Project

On April 9th, LIFE-DRY4GAS will organise the final conference of the project entitled “Alternative to conventional sludge dehydration and management lines in a WWTP, circular economy objective” in the plenary room of the San Javier (Murcia) town hall. The conference, organised by ESAMUR in collaboration with CIEMAT, will have the participation of all the project partners: CIEMAT, ESAMUR, AITESA, RANK, EHS TECHNIQUES, and CEBAS-CSIC.

Final monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project

The 14th and 20th of September 2023 the final monitoring meeting of the LIFE DRY4GAS project has been held, with the attendance of Federico de Filippi, project advisor of CINEA (European Commission) and Patricia Serrano, external monitor of ELMEN. The 14th of September an online meeting has been celebrated. Advances reached from June 2022 and pending tasks in each action until the end of the project have been shown.

Jornada de "Economía circular de lodos de depuradora"

El próximo martes 20 de junio y dentro del proyecto LIFE-Dry4Gas se va a realizar la jornada técnica "Economía circular de lodos de depuradora", evento que tendrá lugar a las 9:30 horas en las instalaciones del CECER-CIEMAT y que será gratuito. Estará coordinado por Virginia Pérez (CEDER-CIEMAT), Eva Blasco (CIEDA-CIEMAT) e Ignacio Godos (UVA)

Fifth monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project

The 13th and 14th of June 2022 took place the fifth monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project by the external monitor of NEEMO. The meeting, organized by CIEMAT as project coordinator in collaboration with ESAMUR as host, was celebrated presently in Murcia. Representatives of all the partners attended the meeting showing the advances performed during the last year. The 13th of June a visit to the DRY4GAS prototype installations in the WWTP of San Javier was carried out, where the state of the prototype and the advances done in the dryer of CIEMAT and in the heat recovery part, including the combustion chamber of AITESA and the ORC of RANK, where first hand known.

LIFE-DRY4GAS project in LIFE AMIA Conference

On May 17th, the LIFE AMIA project organised the Conference entitled “Tratamiento avanzado de aguas residuales para reutilización de agua en agricultura” in the offices of CEBAS-CSIC in Murcia. In the Conference, several aspects related to the removal of micropollutants and pathogenics, microalgae application and several innovative processes for the treatment of waste water will be presented. Furthermore, the event is also a networking activity with other LIFE projects in the field.

LIFE-DRY4GAS project will participate on ACI’s Gasification Summit 2022

Gasification Summit 2022 will be held on 9th and 10th March 2022 in Lyon (France). This event was planned for 18th and 19th March 2020, but it has been postponed due to COVID-19. ACI’s 9th Annual Gasification Summit will comprise formal presentations, interactive discussions and excellet networking opportunities. It will showcase the latest developments in the sector and provide key insights from senior executives in the industry to discuss the latest commercial and technical developments, challenges and research breakthroughs throughout the entire gasification market. The LIFE-DRY4GAS project will be present in this event with an oral presentation in Session Three (day 1): Gasification Outlook: Status and Present Develpments.

LIFE-DRY4GAS in the event of sewage sludge by ATEGRUS

On October 19th, the technical conference on sewage sludge management and energetic valorisation organized by ATEGRUS, took place at the same time that SMAGUA 2021 exhibition, celebrated in the Zaragoza Trade Fair. Different topics related to management and energetic valorisation of sewage sludge were studied. Other questions like sewage sludge legislation and opportunities related to circular economy were discussed. On the other hand, innovative technologies for the recovery and use of sewage sludge were presented.

Fourth monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project

he fourth monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project took place the 27th of May 2021. The meeting, organized by CIEMAT as project coordinator, was celebrated virtually due to the COVID-19 crisis and was attended by representatives of all the partners currently participating in the project. At the meeting, the progress of the project during the last year was presented. Representatives of each of the partners gave presentations to assess the current development of tasks and deliverables, as well as the deadlines for their completion.

The LIFE-DRY4GAS Project was in the 81st International Energy Agency- Fluidized Bed Conversion Technical Meeting (IEA-FBC)

The 81st Technical Meeting of the Fluidized Bed Conversion group of the International Energy Agency was held virtually the 10th November 2020. In this edition, several technical issues related to fluidized bed conversion technology have been presented, with the point of view at the way that the current COVID19 crisis could influence in this technology.

LIFE-DRY4GAS project in the 28th e-EUBCE

The 28th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) was held virtually, due to the COVID-19 crisis, from 6th to 9th July 2020. In this edition the EUBCE has expanded its portfolio from energy related biomass production and conversion of bio-based feedstock to other sectors of the bioeconomy and has integrated the bioeconomy’s role in the post-pandemic economic recovery. David Peña, member of the Thermal Conversion Processes Unit of CEDER-CIEMAT, carried out an oral presentation entitled “Sewage sludge solar drying and gasification at pilot scale for CHP” in the session “2BO.2: Innovative Integrated Gasification Systems Modelling and Demonstration” on Tuesday 7th of July. A resume of LIFE-DRY4GAS project and the main results of preliminary solar drying and gasifying tests of sewage sludge carried out in pilot plants at CEDER-CIEMAT were presented, as a previous step to the design of the prototype that will be installed in the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) located in San Javier (Murcia, Spain).

The third monitoring visit of the LIFE-DRY4GAS project took place the 20th of May 2020. The meeting was organized by CIEMAT, as project coordinator, and was celebrated virtually due to the COVID-19 crisis. Representatives of all the partners of the project attended the meeting. LIFE-DRY4GAS project participate on the LIFE Platform meeting on Waste-Water Treatment. Making Water Fit for LIFE

A LIFE Platform meeting on Waste-Water Treatment on Making Water Fit for LIFE was hold on 29-30 January 2020 in Barcelona. The main outcome of the meeting was to provide feedback to the Water Policy Unit of Directorate General for Environment (DG ENV) based on your practical experiences of implementing LIFE projects. The LIFE-DRY4GAS project has been present in this event with a poster and a speed presentation about the project.

Visit of CEDER by Minister Pedro Duque

The 15th of October 2019, the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Pedro Duque, visited CEDER-CIEMAT facilities in Lubia (Soria). Within his visit, he had the opportunity of knowing the activities performed by the Center researchers in the field of energy valorization of biomass and solid residues. Among these activities, the LIFE DRY4GAS project was presented to the Minister, who showed interest in the replicability of the prototype developed in the project. Furthermore, he visited the solar drying and gasification pilot plants that are used by CEDER-CIEMAT in the test runs of the preparatory actions of the project, on which the development of the prototype of solar drying and gasification that will be installed in San Javier (Murcia) WWTP is based.

The Project in the World Congress ISWA 2019

Between 7th and 9th October 2019, the World Congress ISWA 2019 was held in Bilbao. ISWA (International Solid Waste Association) is an international association non-governmental, independent and non-profit association. Its mission is to promote and to develop professional waste management worldwide as a contribution to sustainable development. The ISWA World Congress 2019 carried out its 29th edition with the theme “The road to the sustainability and circular economy”. The congress was based on a scientific programme which was focused on sustainable waste management, circular economy and resource efficiency.

Second monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project

The second monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project took place the 19th of June 2019. The meeting was celebrated in the offices of CIEMAT in Madrid and representatives of all the partners in that moment of the project attended the meeting. All beneficiaries of the project presented their technical advances up to the meeting and the situation of the project. Moreover, CIEMAT informed about the situation of the writing of the Amendment no.4 to the project Grant Agreement. The external monitor of NEEMO clarified doubts related to the needed steps and documents for changing the consortium (beneficiaries, actions and budget) and reviewed the financial and administrative paperwork individually with each partner.

First monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project

The first monitoring visit of the LIFE DRY4GAS project took place the 26th of June 2018. The meeting was celebrated in the offices of Cadagua in Madrid and representatives of all the partners in that moment of the project attended the meeting. The external monitor from NEEMO made a presentation of the LIFE Programme 2014-2020, including technical and financial-administrative issues. Moreover, all the partners then in the project performed a presentation of the tasks made up to the meeting, as well as their foresight regarding financial and administrative issues of the project. At last, a review of the financial and administrative paperwork was treated individually with all the partners.

The LIFE DRY4GAS project kick-off meeting

The LIFE DRY4GAS Project officially started the 3rd of July 2017 and after that, the 10th of October 2017 the project kick-off meeting was held in ESAMUR head offices in Espinardo (Murcia).
